Vegesafe program

Researchers from Macquarie University have been running a great program to look at the metal levels of soils in residential areas.  They have focused on lead due to its health impacts and found houses can have lead soil levels 10 fold higher than background levels.

The areas with the highest metal levels are generally centered around the CBD and into the inner west.  The outlying suburbs fall back to background lead levels.
